Silicon Valley Presents Unified Front to Counter Trump’s Immigration Policies

Last week, dozens of tech companies, including Apple, Google, and Facebook, signed on to an amicus brief filed with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals against the Trump Administration’s travel ban. This ‘friend of the court’ brief noted that more than 200 of the company’s on the Fortune 500 list were founded by immigrants.

In a related move, many of these titans of Silicon Valley also signed on to an open letter to President Trump regarding several key immigration issues. The letter criticizes the blanket suspension of the U.S. refugee admission program, and calls on President Trump to protect the undocumented foreign nationals currently enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The letter further asks the President to seek input from Silicon Valley “…to help achieve immigration policies that both support the work of American businesses and reflect American values.”
