Meet the Murthy Law Firm: Khorzad Mehta

The dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff at the Murthy Law Firm is integral to our success. Day after day, they help to fulfill the dreams of our clients through their integrity, diligence, and commitment to excellence. To introduce our readers to the dozens of individuals who come together to make our clients and our firm successful, we periodically present one of our exceptional team members. This entry in our continuing series, Meet the Murthy Law Firm, shines the spotlight on Green Card attorney, Khorzad Mehta.

Khorzad grew up in Montreal, Canada and spent his childhood immersed in sports and reading books by his favorite Canadian authors. When he was fourteen, his family immigrated to the United States, and he briefly considered following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather to become a doctor. But Khorzad decided to take a different path by exploring his interest in the liberal arts. “It’s what I enjoyed, and where my natural abilities are. I graduated from Ohio State with a BA in Political Science, and moving on to law school was really a natural extension of that.” While Khorzad initially struggled to find a legal niche he was passionate about, he knew he had found his calling after taking an introductory course on immigration law. “I was hooked!” he recalls. “That’s when I learned the complexity behind the laws and regulations that had helped me and my family immigrate to the United States. I knew this was the field I wanted to work in as a lawyer.”

After graduating from law school, Khorzad spent several years working as an associate at an immigration firm, where he discovered a way to forge a link to the medical field he thought he had left behind. “The clientele was largely composed of physicians, surgeons, members of the allied health professions and medical researchers. It was a natural fit for me, because being in or connected to the medical field runs in my family.” After he joined the Murthy Law Firm in 2008, Khorzad continued to specialize in employment-based green card filings, with a focus on helping physicians and other health professionals through the immigration process. “We have a tremendous variety of interesting work here, and the people are great … it’s also nice that, as a firm, we approach our work from the standpoint of community service, not just professional service … we take care of our clients, and help them to achieve their dreams and goals, and we, as attorneys, are given leeway to pursue our goals.”
