Supreme Court Leaves Restrictions on Administrative Closure in Place

The Supreme Court declined to pause a lower-court judgment blocking the 2024 administrative-closure rule. That judgment remains in place while the appeal continues. Administrative closure temporarily takes a case off the active docket, often while a person pursues a separate application that could affect the removal case. The Court did not decide whether the rule is lawful.
