NewsFlash! Delays in U.S. Visa and Passport Issuance

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) is experiencing technical problems that are causing delays in issuance of U.S. visa “stamps,” as well as some U.S. passports. DOS advises that the problems are not limited to any specific country or visa category.

The visa delays are the result of a June 9th hardware failure that impacts security checks. Individuals who applied for visas at a U.S. consular post on or after June 9th may face delays in visa processing. DOS does not have a timeline for resolution of these problems, but is addressing this as an urgent matter. More details may be found in the DOS notice, available online.
