Slight Forward Movement in January 2016 Visa Bulletin

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) released the January 2016 Visa Bulletin. The dates for filing (DF) chart remains virtually unchanged in the employment-based categories. As expected, however, there is some movement in the final action (FA) chart. For those born in India, the cutoff date in the employment-based, second preference (EB2) category moves ahead by eight months to February 1, 2008. In the employment-based, third preference (EB3) category, the India date only moves forward by a few weeks to May 15, 2004. EB3 China advances by ten weeks to July 1, 2012.

As of this writing, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has not yet indicated whether the cutoff dates in the DF chart may be used as a basis for filing an adjustment-of-status application in January.
