Memo of Understanding Between DOJ and DOL

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to share information and, ostensibly, to protect U.S. workers. This MOU is designed to make it easier to refer cases of potential discrimination in violation of the law between the agencies.

MOU Similar to That Between USCIS and DOJ

The Trump Administration continues to take steps to intimidate U.S. companies that legally employ foreign national workers. As discussed in the MurthyDotCom NewsBrief, Memo of Understanding Between USCIS and DOJ to Better Detect Fraud and Abuse (06.Jun.2018), a similar MOU was signed between the DOJ and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Conclusion

This MOU is not a change in immigration rules or regulations. Employers have long been prohibited from discriminating against U.S. workers.
