NewsFlash! TSA Announces Enhanced Security Measures for Certain Flights to U.S.

On July 6, 2014, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that travelers boarding flights bound for the United States from certain airports with direct flights to this country will face enhanced security measures. Travelers are advised to be particularly aware of the potential inspection of electronic devices. Specifically, if a traveler is carrying an electronic device, such as a mobile phone, s/he may be asked to turn the device on during the standard security screening. If the electronic device cannot be powered on, such as in the event that the battery is not charged, the device will not be permitted onto the airplane, and the traveler may be subject to additional security screening.
