The U.S. Department of State (DOS) is making significant progress toward resolving the technical problems that were preventing visa issuance. As of this writing, 39 consular posts are reconnected to the biometric clearance system. The list of these consulates, which include Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai, as well as other high-volume consulates worldwide, is available in DOS’s most recent notice.

The DOS reports the successful issuance of more than 45,000 visas on June 22nd. They anticipate fully restoring the system by the end of this week, and will be working through the weekend in an effort to clear visa application backlogs. Individuals should check the websites of their particular consulates for information about interview rescheduling and related details.
