January 2017 Visa Bulletin: Very Little Movement

There is little-to-no movement of cutoff dates from the previous month in the final action (FA) chart of the January 2017 Visa Bulletin, which was released this afternoon by the U.S. Department of State (DOS). In the employment-based, second preference (EB2) category, the cutoff date for India moves ahead by ten weeks, to April 15, 2008. EB2 China inches forward by a few weeks, to October 15, 2012. For the employment-based, third preference (EB3) category, India does not move at all, while EB3 China advances by nine weeks, to September 8, 2013. EB3 for the Philippines moves ahead by six weeks, to July 22, 2011.

The dates for filing (DF) charts see no movement whatsoever from the previous month. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has yet to announce whether the DF charts may be used in January 2017 for purposes of filing for adjustment of status. A more detailed overview of the January 2017 Visa Bulletin will be posted on MurthyDotCom in the coming days.
