Is attorney assistance mandatory for H1B extensions & GC paperwork?
14 Dec 2015Answer
There is no law requiring the use of an attorney for immigration cases. There are, however, many things that can and do go wrong when cases are prepared without proper legal advice. Some companies do H1Bs internally, but very few try PERMs on their own. Even if a company gets an H1B approved, there can be hidden problems that come up later. At the Murthy Law Firm, we frequently receive calls from foreign nationals and employers regarding cases prepared without the assistance of an attorney, that led to errors, denials, etc. In the vast majority of situations, trying to fix a problem or combat a denial is much more expensive and risky than making sure things are done properly from the start of the case.
