NewsFlash! U.S. Consulates in Turkey Suspend Processing of Nonimmigrant Visas

On Sunday, October 8, 2017, the U.S. Mission to Turkey announced that, effective immediately, the U.S. embassy and consulates in Turkey have suspended processing nonimmigrant visas. This action was taken in response to escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries. The government of Turkey responded by suspending visa services for all U.S. citizens.

It should be noted that, based on the announcement by the U.S. Mission to Turkey, it appears that the embassy and consulate will continue processing immigrant visas. Further, it does not appear to prohibit citizens of Turkey from applying for nonimmigrant visa at U.S. consulates located outside of Turkey.
