I am working in TN status. Can I also be a partner in a startup?

Answer

The TN status only permits one to work for the TN employer. In regard to any other business, one (normally) can only be a passive investor. There are potential workarounds, but one would need to talk to a qualified attorney. (25.Feb.2019)
