I worked in H1B status for 6 years, and then moved to H-4 status one year ago. Can I apply for H1B through the lottery this year?

Answer

After completing 6 years in H1B status, in order to be eligible to reapply under the H1B cap (i.e., H1B lottery), one generally would need to be outside the United States for at least one year prior to the date the cap-subject H1B petition is filed. Time spent in the U.S. does not count toward this one-year period. (02.Jan.2020)
