NewsFlash! Trump Says He Will Replace EB5 Program with $5M “Gold Card” Program

Today, the Trump Administration announced that they plan to eliminate the EB5 immigrant investor program, and replace it with a “gold card” program, which grants lawful permanent residency based on an investment of $5 million. No further details have yet been provided.

It is worth noting that President Trump cannot eliminate the EB5 program on his own. Because the EB5 program was created by statute, Congress would have to pass a law to end the program.
