Trump to Implement Travel Ban on Nationals from 12 Countries, Effective 09.Jun.2025
05 Jun 2025Yesterday, President Trump signed a proclamation barring the admission of nationals of twelve countries, and partially restricting admission of nationals from seven other countries, as of Monday, 09.Jun.2025. This total travel ban will apply to nationals of the following twelve countries:
- Afghanistan
- Chad
- Equatorial Guinea
- Eritrea
- Haiti
- Iran
- Libya
- Myanmar
- Somalia
- Sudan
- Republic of Congo
- Yemen
The partial travel ban will prohibit admission of immigrants and nonimmigrants on B-1, B-2, B-1/B-2, F, M, and J visas. It will apply to nationals of the following countries:
- Burundi
- Cuba
- Laos
- Sierra Leone
- Togo
- Turkmenistan
- Venezuela
The proclamation only applies to nationals of the countries listed who are not in the United States and do not have a valid visa as of the effective date. It also includes exceptions, including for lawful permanent residents, those with dual nationality (where the other nationality is not a country included in the proclamation), and for immediate family immigrant visas.
