Trump Administration Reportedly Intends to Significantly Expand Travel Ban
02 Dec 2025The Trump administration is reportedly considering adding ten or more additional countries to the full travel ban list. This comes in the wake of an attack on two members of the National Guard by an Afghan national who is legally residing in the United States.
Currently, nationals of Afghanistan, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan, Republic of Congo, and Yemen are generally barred from admission to the United States. In addition, nationals of Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela are subject to a partial travel ban.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has not yet provided any details on the expansion of the travel ban, including what countries may be added to the list. But, following the attack on the National Guard, Trump posted on social media that he would “permanently pause migration from all third world countries.”
