NewsFlash! USCIS Proposes Substantial Fee Hike on Most Filings

Tomorrow, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will be publishing a proposed increase in filing fees in the Federal Register that would apply to nearly all case types. A pre-publication version of the proposal is available online. Table 9, which can be found beginning on page 86 of the document, lists the proposed fee increases for each form. Some of the more notable increases included in the proposal are:

  • Changing the petition for a nonimmigrant worker (form I-129) filing fee to $460, a 42% increase;
  • Changing the petition for an alien worker (form I-140) filing fee to $700, a 21% increase; and
  • Changing the petition for an alien relative (form I-130) filing fee to $535, a 27% increase.

MurthyDotCom will provide a more detailed analysis of the proposal in the near future.
