What is an Alien Number? Will I get one if my H1B is approved?

Answer

An Alien Number, or “A” Number, is an identifying number that is normally assigned to an individual after an immigrant petition (e.g., I-140, I-130) is approved for that person, or if the individual has been in removal proceedings. Generally the A number would not appear on an H1B approval notice unless the person has a previous I-140 or I-130 approval and that information had been disclosed on the H1B petition. (26.Feb.2018)
