Is it true that I soon will be able to apply to renew my H1B visa stamp without leaving the United States?

Answer

While there is a push to implement a system that would allow H1B workers to obtain an H1B visa “stamp” from within the United States, it seems unlikely this will happen in the near future.

President Biden’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders recently made a series of recommendations to the President aimed at improving the U.S. immigration system. One recommendation was to allow for H1B visas, or perhaps some other form of travel authorization, to be issued from within the U.S. But, at this point, this is merely a recommendation. And, even if the recommendation is adopted by President Biden, it could take some time before the details are worked out and the program implemented. (12.Oct.2022)
