If my H1B position will have me working on a client’s project, does my employer need to specify the project during the registration process?

No, there is no such requirement. The registration must be connected with a bona fide job offer by the employer, but no details regarding the specific position, work location, project, etc are required for the registration.  (02.Feb.2022)
