Forms N-600 and N-600K Now can be Filed Online

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has added an online submission option for two immigration forms: the application for certificate of citizenship (form N-600), and the application for citizenship and issuance of certificate under section 322 (form N-600K). Form N-600 is used to obtain a certificate that evidences the date a person became a U.S. citizen. Form N-600K is filed by a qualifying applicant to establish citizenship through a U.S. citizen parent when the child applicant will be regularly residing outside the United States.

Instructions for Submitting Online

In order to file an N-600 or N-600K online, the qualifying stakeholder, must first create an online account on the USCIS website. Once an account is established, the form may be filled out, and the applicant may attach supporting evidence and pay the filing fee through the online portal. These forms can also be submitted online by one’s attorney or accredited representative.

Conclusion

These two forms join a small-but-growing list of USCIS forms that now can be submitted electronically. By providing online versions of the form, the USCIS expects to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
