Until recently, MurthyDotCom was posting updated visa bulletin predictions each month. There have not been any such postings lately. Do you expect to provide these again in the near future?

Answer

At the end of 2021, Charles Oppenheim retired from his position as the Chief of the Visa Control and Reporting Division for the U.S. Department of State (DOS). Until his retirement, Mr. Oppenheim had been providing visa bulletin updates most months. We would then, in turn, post a summary of his predictions and analysis on MurthyDotCom.

Since Mr. Oppenheim’s retirement, no one else from the DOS has stepped in to provide monthly visa bulletin updates. The DOS has not yet permanently filled Mr. Oppenheim’s position. So, perhaps the monthly updates will resume once that position is filled. When asked about this by representatives from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), a DOS representative responded that the agency will “continue to engage with the public through its TravelGov social media platforms and is considering [its] way forward.”

Needless to say, if and when the DOS provides any updated predictions, we will post the information on MurthyDotCom. (26.Jan.2022)
