I am filing an EB3 downgrade case next week. How long will it take to get my green card?

Answer

There are two main issues to consider when trying to estimate how long it may take to obtain your green card after the I-485 has been filed. First, you need to look at I-485 processing times at your local field office. This can be found here. Second, and perhaps more significantly, you need to determine whether your priority date is current on the final action chart (commonly referred to as “Chart A”). Although the USCIS is allowing for I-485 filing in October 2020 based on the dates for filing chart (or “Chart B), the USCIS can only approve an I-485 if the priority date is current on Chart A. Depending upon how quickly the final action dates move, some people filing I-485 applications in October may be waiting several years or more to receive their green cards. (15.Oct.2020)
