Today, President Biden is expected to impose travel restrictions on India starting Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to curb the spread of COVID-19. The ban will bar most travelers who are not U.S. citizens and U.S. lawful permanent residents from coming to the United States if they have been present in India within the last 14 days. The new travel restriction was recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because of the unprecedented upsurge of COVID-19 cases, including multiple variants, currently circulating in India.
