CDC Adds Covid-19 Vaccine to List of Required Immunizations

On August 24, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that, starting October 1, 2021, green card applicants will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The complete vaccination history is documented by a designated civil surgeon on form I-693, which is one of the general requirements for the approval of the Application for Adjustment of Status (I-485). The new vaccination requirement provides for certain blanket and individual waivers, including those based on age appropriateness, any contraindications, general availability, and the applicant’s religious or moral convictions. A refusal to be vaccinated against Covid-19 where medically appropriate may result in denial of a green card based on a Class A medical inadmissibility.
