NewsFlash! Government Shutdown October 1, 2013

The U.S. government is in a state of partial shutdown as of October 1, 2013 due to an inability to obtain congressional agreement on appropriations. As of October 1st, the Department of Labor iCert system is unavailable. This system is used for both PERM labor certifications and the Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) required for H1B petition filings. The USCIS is operational, as they are largely funded by filing fees. It continues to be necessary, therefore, to attend any scheduled USCIS appointment, respond to notices and, when possible, meet all USCIS deadlines. More information is available in our September 30, 2013 NewsBrief. Readers will be updated with further information and guidance as this situation unfolds.
