NewsFlash! Trump, GOP Senators Propose Bill to Modify Immigration System, Slash Visa Numbers

Today, President Trump announced his support for a bill proposed by Republican Senators Tom Cotton (AR) and David Perdue (GA) that, if passed, would make massive changes to the U.S. immigration system. The proposal would replace the current employment-based immigration system with a merit-based system. It would also eliminate the diversity lottery, and dramatically reduce the number of family-based immigrant visas available each fiscal year.

It is important to note that this is merely a proposed bill. At this time, there is little reason to believe that this bill, or any of the various other immigration bills that have been proposed in recent months, will ever become law.
