Online Fee Calculator Added to USCIS Website

A new online fee calculator has been added to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website to help stakeholders properly calculate the amount owed when applying for certain immigration benefits. This calculator is designed to help reduce the number of applications and petitions the USCIS has to reject based on lack of proper payment.

Fees Calculated Based on Form Type

This new online tool calculates the amount owed based on the form/s one is submitting. For certain form types, the calculator also asks for some additional, basic information to ensure the proper amount is calculated.

Online Calculator can be Used with Most – But Not All – Form Types

The online calculator currently can be used for most forms, including the petition for alien relative (form I-130), immigrant petition for alien worker (form I-140), and the application to extend / change nonimmigrant status (form I-539). The petition for a nonimmigrant worker (form I-129), however, is among the form types not supported by the online fee calculator.

Conclusion

Slowly but surely, the USCIS continues to move into the digital era. One can only hope that this trend continues.
